Alton CC Time Trials
Name and time trial date

Alton CC Zwift Virtual Time Trials: Newbury Velo have been running quite a few online events on the Zwift platform which have included Criterium, Road Racing and Time Trials some of which Alton CC riders have been joining in with. Every Wednesday evening for the last 3 weeks, there’s been an 11 mile TT that’s started at 19:00 and these are going to be run each week going forward during these times when we cannot race on the open roads.

Alton CC have will be running a club competition league using these Newbury Velo Wednesday evening events from 22nd April onwards. We are expecting them to be run every Wednesday from 19:00 up until the end of June, and possibly beyond, depending on changes to the lockdown regulations and announcements from national cycling bodies. As these events are not being run by ourselves they may be subject to change.

The VTTA standards are a handicapping system which take into account a rider's age so even the oldest riders, some in their 80s and even 90s, can compete against "younger" veterans who are in their 40s and 50s. The full rules and information on Zwift is here.

Alton CC promotes weekly time trials from April to August, sign on for our evening time trials is from around 18:30, for the two weekend 25 mile time trials sign on will be from around 07:30.

For both the H10/8 and H25/8 course, sign on is from the start line / layby on the Westbound carriageway of the A31 with all results post race given at the Bull Inn layby on the Eastbound carriageway. Please do not approach the timekeepers at the finish line. The entry fee for all our club events is 5 for 2020.

In the interests of your safety Alton Cycling Club requires all riders to use Hard Shell Helmets for Club events. CTT requires under 18 riders to use Hard Shell Helmets for all events. CTT requires all riders to have working rear lights with 50m visibility for both Open and Club events: there will be no exceptions to this rule. If you don't have a working rear light you will not be allowed to ride. Our sponsor, Owens Cycles, has made a small number of rear lights available for loan at events. Riders and event officials must read and adhere to the Safety Rules for Time Trial Events on the A31 document.

Promoted for and on behalf of Cycling Time Trials under their Rules and regulations.
